Show notes
In the middle of war, sometimes the smallest acts of kindness leave the deepest impressions.
After preparing and leading a memorial ceremony for fallen service members in Afghanistan, I stood on the flight line and played Taps as their bodies were carried home.
When it was over, I sat quietly in the dining facility, struggling to comprehend everything that had just happened.
Then someone approached me with a Fanta.
It was a simple gesture, but in that moment, it brought me back.
This is a story about grief, military service, human connection, and the extraordinary power of being seen when words aren’t enough.
Through Hope 180, we believe that hope often begins with one person choosing to reach another.
